Successfully implement the Portable en pause scheme with the FONOF pouch

Since 2025, the Ministry of National Education has been rolling out the Portable en pause shceme in all state secondary schools. This measure aims to ensure that pupils' mobile phones and connected devices are effectively put away, in order to reduce distractions, improve the school environment and enhance concentration.

  • A clear institutional framework

The 2018 law already prohibited the use of mobile phones in class. Now, with Mobile Phones on Pause, the government is asking secondary schools to implement an organisation system that ensures all students' connected devices are effectively and securely put away.

  • An organisational challenge

Schools must find a solution that is practical, secure and affordable. For local authorities, the challenge is to support seconday schools with a reliable, sustainable system that is easy to deploy on a large scale.

  • Promoting concentration and learning

By neutralising calls, notifications and screen access, FONOF allows students to focus fully on their lessons. Trials have shown increased attention, smoother lessons and a measureable improvement in academic results.

  • Improving the school environment

Effectively removing phones reduces conflicts related to their use, defuses tensions and creates a more peaceful environment in the school. FONOF thus contributes to a climate of trust between students, teachers and parents.

  • Strengthening social relationships

Without the screen as a refuge, secondary school pupils interacte more with each other, developing richer social interactions and a stronger collective spirit. The digital break becomes a moment of renewed conviviality.

  • Preventing cyberbullying

By limiting digital use during school hours, FONOF reduces the risk of offensive content being shared and protects students from forms of online harassment. A tool for preventing and protecting the schools environment.

  • Supporting mental health and wellbeing

Less screen exposure means less eye strain, less stress and better quality sleep. FONOF contributes to the overall well-being of students, which is essential for educational success.

  • Ensuring the integrity of assessments

During examinations, FONOF prevents access to phones and eliminates any attempts at electronic cheating, ensuring fairness among students and the credibility of assessments.
